Landscapes

Traditional landscapes continue to be one of the most studied, appreciated and collected subject matters in the art world. The reason for the broad appeal, however, is not as straight forward as the genre itself. Traditional landscapes can elicit a range of emotions from comfortable familiarity to exotic escape.

“It’s where our memories reside and our dreams for the future are played out. They elicit emotional response, in addition to bringing a representation of the outdoor world into the closed spaces where we spend much of our time.”
(Karl Eric Leitzel, founder & director of Landscape Artists International)
